Fall in love with love.

I love love.

Whether it’s love of family, of a partner, of a friend, a pet, a hobby, a favourite meal… Love can bring us joy in most of its forms.

Taking stock of what we love — and what we don’t — can help us to focus on what matters. You may discover you love time with your pet and plants but dislike hangovers, and so choose to swap your bursting social calendar for some evenings at home. Or, you may identify that you love time with your friends but realise it’s been a while since a catch-up IRL — time to get one in the diary.

Whether you’re attached or not this Valentine’s Day, it is nice a reminder to reflect on what it is you love in life — and turn up the dial on getting more of that in your every day.

For me, this is more delicious food, time being truly present with my cat and husband (i.e. not just watching TV, but really connecting), walks outside in the sunshine, good coffee, great books, and time championing my mates and their goals / businesses.

A grey cat.

Something I love? Being truly present with my cat, Zeus.

Taylor Swift is about to visit Australia for her concerts, and the media is full of articles about the chokehold she has on millions of people around the world. The fandom of the Swifties is real, and it’s something I’ve been thinking about a lot. Because just as loud as the girls that sing ‘Shake It Off’ are the haters who seem to want to bring them down. But why?

It brings people no value to unproductively hate on what someone else loves.

And that’s the point of focusing on what it is we love, instead of going through the motions of life — or, worse — choosing to focus your energy on something you hate.

Whatever it is that you do love, I hope you get a taste of it today.

This month I’m…

Something else I did:

  • Planned my book launch with my dear friend and fellow-author, Dr Sarah Ayoub. We did so while eating pancakes at bills in Surry Hills — all things that I love! Join us at Better Read Than Dead in Newtown if you’re in New South Wales, on Thursday, 07 March 2024. Afterwards, we’ll be heading to Newtown Hotel for dinner and drinks. Registration is essential; get your tickets here.
